An aspirant for the Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oluwafemi Fadairo, has debunked reports making the rounds that he has stepped down from the race.
Fadairo, rather expressed confidence in securing the party’s ticket during the primary of the party conducted on Saturday.

While commending the peaceful and orderly nature of the primary election, Fadairo described it as evidence of a credible process that will favour his emergence as the party candidate.

Fadairo, who is the immediate past Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement (Central) to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, disclosed this shortly after participating in the exercise at Ward 8, Oke Aro, Akure, the state.

The aspirant, who stated the exercise was free of violence and devio of intimidation, he maintained that the transparent atmosphere recorded in his home ward is a reflection of the entire exercise.

Fadairo, a former director of administration to the Senate, noted that being the sole aspirant contesting in his ward reflected the level of trust and acceptance he enjoys among constituents.

“The fact that I am the only aspirant contesting in this ward speaks volumes. It shows that people recognise and appreciate good representation.

Addressing speculations surrounding his alleged withdrawal from the race, the APC aspirant dismissed the claims as unfounded, insisting that he remains fully in the contest.

“I did not step down for anybody. If anyone steps down from an election, there must be an official letter stating that. That is not the case here.
“I bought my nomination form for N10 million. Why should I step down? I am a peace-loving person, and I believe in due process, not intimidation or unnecessary conflict. The people have come out to cast their votes for me, and that shows clearly that I am still very much in the race.”

He also expressed appreciation to Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity to serve in his administration, saying the platform had enabled him to empower communities and make meaningful contributions to the people.
