The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has created the office of Deputy Director General, appointing Dr. Tinuke Temitope as the pioneer occupant of the strategic position.
The appointment, which took effect July 1, 2026, was announced by the President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, during the Chamber’s Sixth Executive Committee and Council Meeting held on June 25 at the President’s Conference Room in Abuja.
The creation of the office followed a resolution reached during the Chamber’s 2025 Executive Committee Retreat as part of a broader institutional reform designed to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen governance, improve service delivery to members, and positioning ACCI for greater impact in Nigeria’s private sector and economic development.
Chief Obegolu said the Executive Committee unanimously approved Dr. Temitope’s appointment in recognition of her exceptional service, professionalism, and sustained contributions to the Chamber.
He noted that establishing the office reflects ACCI’s commitment to modernising its governance structure to meet the growing demands of the business community.
According to him, the new leadership position will reinforce institutional effectiveness while enabling the Chamber to deepen its advocacy, support for businesses, and contributions to national economic growth.
“This promotion is in recognition of your dedication, professionalism, and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the Chamber.
We are confident that you will continue to discharge your responsibilities with the same commitment and diligence that have distinguished your service to the Chamber,” Obegolu said.
The Director General of ACCI, Mr. Agabaidu Jideani, described the appointment as well deserved, praising Dr. Temitope’s track record of excellence and leadership.
He expressed confidence that she would bring the same level of dedication and professionalism to her expanded responsibilities.
“There is no doubt in my mind that you will excel in this new responsibility, just as you have consistently demonstrated excellence in every assignment entrusted to you,” Jideani stated.
Dr. Temitope described her emergence as the Chamber’s first Deputy Director General as both a personal honour and a defining moment in ACCI’s institutional evolution.
She thanked God, the Chamber’s leadership, Executive Committee, Management Council, and staff for the trust reposed in her, pledging to justify the confidence placed in her.
She said the establishment of the office symbolises ACCI’s commitment to continuous growth and excellence, adding that the new role comes with increased responsibility and renewed determination to support the Chamber’s vision.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. I look forward to taking on this new responsibility with dedication, embracing the challenges ahead, and working collaboratively to advance the vision and mission of the Chamber,” she said.
