The Olofin Adimula Oodua of Ado-Odo Kingdom, Oba Olusola Adebowale Lamidi-Osolo (Otenibotemole II), will lead a Nigerian delegation to Brazil on his first official visit to the country, aimed at deepening trade, education and cultural cooperation.
The visit builds on the long-standing ancestral and cultural bonds between the Yoruba people and South America. It will focus on four areas: trade and commerce, academic exchange, municipal governance and heritage preservation.
His Chief Protocol Officer, Amb. Omoba Adesoji Talabi, said the trip is designed to deliver concrete outcomes.
“This visit will serve as an important bridge for international cooperation, creating tangible opportunities for strategic dialogue and collaboration in trade, commerce, academic research, and traditional heritage between Nigeria and Brazil,” he said.
According to the traditional ruler’s itinerary, the monarch is scheduled to meet municipal mayors (prefeitos), secretaries of culture and other institutional leaders. The discussions are meant to open the way for direct city-to-city partnerships and wider economic opportunities.
The Oba is also expected to be a Guest of Honour (Patrono de Honra do Dia) at the 1ª Conferência Sobre o Patrimônio & Novembro Negro, organised by the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) with SEPAD. The event includes a scholarly symposium, theatre and music performances, documentary screenings and an awards ceremony celebrating African heritage.
He will also attend a royal lunch (Almoço Real) hosted by the Centro Cultural Omo Yoruba. Members of the Yoruba diaspora, civic leaders and international guests are expected, and the programme includes traditional music, film screenings and a question-and-answer session with the monarch.
He will be accompanied by traditional leaders, cultural representatives and other delegates, including Eng. Edgar Alan Alcalá Peimbert, Director of Ohun Abalaye Atijo House of Ifá, Mexico; Marcio de Jagun; Carolina Maira Morais; Aare Olusegun Daramola; Ifadare Ayedun Owoduni; Ogunsanya Abisoye; Nasir Kazeem; and Oyesile Oladimeji.
This report is based on a statement by Amb. Omoba Adesoji Oluwasanya Talabi, JP, Chief Protocol Officer to the Olofin Adimula Oodua of Ado-Odo Kingdom.
