In a statement signed by the president Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), Augustine Akubeze, the Bishops stated that the protest by the youths was justified. The statement reads: \u201cThe Bishops said the youths are avowing their lawful right by demanding for justice and peace for all from \u201cextra-judicial killings, unlawful arrests, profiling of youths as criminals, the invasion of youths\u2019 privacy by searching phones and laptops without any warrant or any just cause, and the incarceration of many of the youths in the SARS custody without trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The body of Catholic Bishops in Nigeria have thrown their weight behind the ongoing protest against police brutality in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement signed by the president Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), Augustine Akubeze, the Bishops stated that the protest by the youths was justified. The statement reads: \u201cThe Bishops said the youths are avowing their lawful right by demanding for justice and peace for all from \u201cextra-judicial killings, unlawful arrests, profiling of youths as criminals, the invasion of youths\u2019 privacy by searching phones and laptops without any warrant or any just cause, and the incarceration of many of the youths in the SARS custody without trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"EndSARS goes beyond the SARS and it is morally justified. We support the youths who have taken this step and we caution that they are allowed without any intimidation to exercise their right to peaceful demonstration and should not be provoked or incited to violence,\u201d CBCN said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement also condemned the setting up of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) to replace the SARS, saying that \u201csetting up a new outfit shows poor judgment on the part of the Federal Government\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor of Osun state, Gboyega Oyetola's convoy was attacked by some hoodlums with stones, cutlasses and sticks after he addressed #EndSARS protesters on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Governor had marched with other state executives from Alekuwodo area to where the protesters barricaded Ola-Iya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the address, the Governor was about leaving the scene when some hoodlums stormed the place and attacked his convoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on media, Mabel Aderonke confirmed the incident to the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said the Governor addressed #EndSARS protesters but as he was about leaving the scene, some hoodlums hijacked the protest and start pelting the convoy with stones and sticks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
