The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida is expected to speak at the inaugural meeting of the Africa Chapter of the International Institute of Communications (IIC).
The forum will convene regulators, policymakers, industry experts and other key stakeholders to deliberate on Africa’s rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape and pathways for strengthening cyber resilience across the continent.
The virtual event is scheduled for January 29, 2026.
The meeting will focus on building effective cybersecurity frameworks, developing coherent regulatory and policy approaches, and promoting cross-sector and cross-border collaboration to address emerging digital threats. The forum is expected to provide a platform for robust dialogue on safeguarding Africa’s digital ecosystem amid increasing connectivity.
Dr. Maida, who is also a member of the IIC Board, will join a distinguished panel of speakers to share insights on digital policy, regulation and cyber resilience, drawing from Nigeria’s regulatory experience and broader continental perspectives. His participation underscores the NCC’s growing role in shaping conversations around digital security and policy development in Africa.
The event forms part of the IIC’s wider commitment to advancing dialogue on connectivity, digital policy and regulation across Africa. The International Institute of Communications is a global forum that brings together regulators, industry leaders and policymakers to engage on critical telecommunications, media and technology issues influencing the global digital ecosystem.
The event will run from 09:00 to 10:30 GMT, 10:00 to 11:30 West Africa Time and 11:00 to 12:30 Central Africa Time.
