The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has invited the interim Chairmen and Secretaries of 14 political associations that scaled its preliminary screening to a briefing scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 11 a.m. at its headquarters in Abuja.
The Commission said the associations will now proceed to the next stage of the registration process, which involves uploading required information to its online portal and undergoing physical verification of their claims.
According to Sam Olumekun, mni, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the verification will check each association’s headquarters, offices across the country, membership registers, constitutions, manifestos, and financial records.
“The final decision on their registration as political parties will only be made after the physical verification of all claims to ensure compliance with the law,” Olumekun stated.
He added that party registration remains a continuous process, and INEC is open to considering fresh applications that meet the constitutional and legal requirements.
