Nigeria and the European Union will be meeting in Abuja to discuss issues that bothers on peace and security among other things, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar has said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement signed by its Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, said the meeting that is slated for 1-2 July 2025 in Abuja tends to explore areas of cooperation.
He stated “The agenda of the meeting is expected to entail wide-ranging discussions that would focus on various aspects of the Nigeria – EU partnership, such as:
– Cooperation on multilateral and regional issues
– Peace, Security and Governance
– Humanitarian situation
– Trade and Investment
– Human Development: Health, Education, Social Protection
– Science, technology, innovation and digital transition
– Migration
– Energy, climate change and green economy transition among others.
The Meeting will be co-chaired by Ambassador Janet Olisa, Director, Regions Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria and Mr. Mathieu Briens, Deputy Managing Director for Africa Department, European External Action Service, European Union.
“As Nigeria and the European Union share a deep, long-standing partnership inspired by mutual values and interests as well as support for multilateralism and rule-based international order. He added.
