Following widespread calls from citizens and political stakeholders for improved accessibility, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general elections to its official website.
The digital rollout complements the physical display exercise conducted at registration areas nationwide from October 9 to 15, in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.
How Voters Can Check Their Details
In a statement issued on Monday, Mohammed Haruna, Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, announced that registered voters can now access and verify their details via the dedicated portal:
Portal URL: display.inecnigeria.org
Objective: Enable voters to cross-check personal data, verify registration status, and monitor the preliminary roll remotely.
December 15 Target for Final Register
Haruna explained that the commission is currently reviewing claims, corrections, and objections submitted during the verification period as part of the legal requirements for finalizing the voter roll.
“The Commission continues to process claims and objections arising from the exercise in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2026, preparatory to the certification and publication of the Final Register of Voters on 15th December 2026,” Haruna stated.
Reiterating INEC’s commitment to delivering credible and transparent 2027 general elections, the commission commended the public for its constructive engagement throughout the voter verification process.
