The Department of Livestock Development in Cross River, has congratulated the State Geographic Information Agency (CRGIA) on winning the Most Improved State GIS/Digital Land Administration Agency Award at the 2026 Nigeria GovTech Public Service Awards.
In a statement by the Special Adviser on Livestock Development, Mr. Liyel Imoukhuede, the department also congratulated the Director-General of CRGIA, Hon. William Archibong Jr., on receiving the Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer’s Award.
Imoukhuede described the honours as a testament to CRGIA’s commitment to innovation, digital transformation and strategic application of geospatial intelligence to governance and sustainable development under the leadership of the governor, Prince Bassey Otu.
He said the achievement holds particular significance for the Department of Livestock Development as it looks forward to strengthening collaboration with CRGIA in developing a comprehensive Livestock Enumeration Database and Livestock Management Information System (LMIS) for the state.
According to him, by leveraging geospatial technology and digital data systems, the state can accurately profile livestock farmers, map livestock populations and production locations, identify grazing and pasture resources, strengthen animal disease surveillance, improve investment planning and support evidence-based policy decisions across the livestock value chain.
“This collaboration will be instrumental in building a reliable, technology-driven livestock ecosystem that promotes productivity, attracts investment, strengthens biosecurity, creates jobs and positions Cross River as a leading destination for sustainable livestock development,” he stated.
The Special Adviser added that as CRGIA continues to demonstrate the transformative power of geospatial innovation, the department looks forward to translating the expertise into practical solutions that advance the shared vision for a modern, data-driven and economically vibrant livestock sector.
“Congratulations once again to Hon. William Archibong Jr. and the entire CRGIA team. The future of governance is digital, and together, we are building a smarter, more productive Cross River State,” Imoukhuede said.
