One of Cross River’s fastest growing socio-cultural organisations, Charging Point Club International, has inducted new members into its fold.
The new members were formally inducted at a colourful ceremony in Calabar at the weekend.
Speaking at the event, President of the club, Mr. Sylvester Abang, charged the inductees to uphold the values of the organisation and conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors.
“Today marks the beginning of a new era as we gather here to induct some of our own.
“This club was established in 2018 with about 24 members; today we have over 140 members,” Abang said.
“You are now ambassadors of Charging Point. Conduct yourselves responsibly, set good examples and let your actions reflect the values that brought us together,” he added
The President said the club has evolved into a strong social organisation built on friendship, cohesion, mutual support and service, and not as a profit-making venture.
According to him, “this organisation is a non-profit. We function as a social organisation with shared values, supporting each other.”
He urged members to pay their monthly dues promptly, noting that members’ contributions remain the primary source of funding for the club’s activities and emergency support to members.
The President, who noted that the club has remained resilient for over eight years with members spread across the world, described Charging Point as a family.
“We celebrate with those who are celebrating and mourn with those who mourn. We hold no grudges. We sit as a family and resolve issues whenever they arise,” he said.
Continuing, Abang explained that the group makes a lot of sacrifices as friends who come together to support each other, maintaining that, Charging Point also preach love and sacrifice.
“It is not a money-making venture. We are laying the foundation for a better future for our members and our immediate society,” he added.
The President who doubles as the Cross River State Chief of Protocol, encouraged the new members to embrace the ideals of the organisation and contribute actively to its growth.
