The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, has warned aspirants seeking elective positions on the platform of the party to maintain discipline and embrace peaceful conduct ahead of the party’s forthcoming primaries for the 2027 general elections.

Yilwatda gave the warning while addressing aspirants who recently participated in screening exercises conducted by various committees constituted by the party.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, the APC chairman stressed that the party remains committed to transparent, credible and democratic primaries capable of strengthening internal democracy and sustaining public confidence in the ruling party.

He cautioned that the party leadership would not tolerate acts capable of undermining the integrity of the primary elections, warning that aspirants or supporters involved in violence, unrest, anti-party activities or actions aimed at disrupting the process would face severe sanctions, including immediate suspension from the party.

According to him, the APC has built a reputation as one of the country’s most organised political parties, adding that no personal ambition would be allowed to override the collective interest of the party and national stability.

“In every democratic contest, only one person will eventually emerge victorious. What is important is the spirit with which the process is approached,” Yilwatda stated.

“I urge all aspirants to display maturity, patriotism and good sportsmanship by embracing the outcome of the primaries in the overall interest of the party and our democracy.”

The APC national chairman urged aspirants to conduct themselves as ambassadors of the party, noting that their behaviour before, during and after the primaries would reflect the values and discipline of the APC.

He also commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as sustained efforts toward strengthening democratic institutions and consolidating internal party processes.

According to Yilwatda, President Tinubu has continued to invest political goodwill and leadership capacity in building a stronger and more united APC capable of delivering sustainable development across the country.

He therefore advised party stakeholders to align with the President’s vision and avoid actions or statements capable of creating division or overheating the political atmosphere.

“The Renewed Hope administration is laying a solid foundation for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria. This is not the time for destructive politics or selfish interests that may put a dent on the remarkable progress that has been achieved,” he said.

Yilwatda maintained that despite inheriting major economic and structural challenges, the Tinubu administration had embarked on bold reforms aimed at repositioning the economy for long-term growth and stability.

He said the government remained committed to achieving its ambitious target of building a $1 trillion economy through investments in infrastructure, industrialisation, agriculture, digital innovation and energy reforms.

Highlighting some achievements of the administration, the APC chairman referenced ongoing road construction projects across the country, rehabilitation of federal highways, expansion of rail networks, revitalisation of the ports sector and investments in energy and power infrastructure.

He also pointed to interventions in agriculture aimed at improving food security, empowering farmers and reducing dependence on imports.

According to him, the administration has strengthened support for small and medium-scale enterprises through access to credit facilities, youth empowerment programmes, digital economy initiatives and reforms designed to improve the ease of doing business.

Yilwatda further stated that policies introduced in the solid minerals sector, oil and gas industry, education, healthcare and technology were already producing positive outcomes that would impact both the macro and micro economy in the coming years.

He noted that infrastructure projects ongoing across different parts of the country would stimulate commerce, create jobs, attract investments and improve living standards.

“The infrastructure revolution currently ongoing under President Tinubu’s leadership will have far-reaching effects on economic productivity, job creation, market access and national competitiveness,” he added.

The APC chairman also called on party members and stakeholders to remain united and committed to ensuring the reelection of President Tinubu in 2027.

He said the achievements recorded by the administration provided strong justification for continuity and urged party faithful nationwide to mobilise support for the President and the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Yilwatda reaffirmed the commitment of the APC leadership to fairness, inclusiveness, justice and internal cohesion, assuring Nigerians that the party would continue to provide leadership focused on development, stability and national progress.
