The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has stated that the country on Tuesday recorded 225 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total infections in the country to 60,655.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 225 new cases are reported from 11 states: Lagos (165), FCT (17), Rivers (13), Ogun (12), Niger (8), Delta (4), Ondo (2), Anambra (1), Edo (1), Ekiti (1), Kaduna (1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also, one death was reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths from the virus to 1,116.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Three out of every five deaths from the virus in Nigeria are in people over 50 years old, the NCDC said, indicating the impact of the virus on the elderly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NCDC in its daily update on its verified Twitter handle, @NCDCgov, stated that out of the over 60,000 infections so far, 52, 006 persons have recovered and have been discharged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu has urged youths to be more focused in their protest against police brutality in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPlease don\u2019t get distracted over this issue of who is this \u2013 eyes on the goal \u2013 forget the distraction,\u201d Yesufu said in a video which has gone viral .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere is nothing to go into fighting mood over this nothing \u2013 so focus on your message and the results that you want is the most important.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nigerian youths in thousand are continuing their protest against brutality, extortion, harassment and extrajudicial killings by police personnel especially the Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Governments in different states have appealed to the protesters to halt their demonstrations and called for negotiation with the youths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the protests have been adjudged successful, there have been reports of division among leading activists and agitators on whether the protest should end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Yesufu said such arguments could become injurious to the passion of protesters who want to see a better Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think a lot of people who have not been part of this protest as they should are coming out to talk about this protest being monetised,\u201d Yesufu said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
