Police in Gombe smash seven man armed robbery gang

The Police in Gombe have succeeded in arresting six out of a seven man armed robbery syndicate in Pindiga District of Akko Local Government Area of the State.

According to DSP Buhari Abdullahi, Police Public Relations Officer, Gombe State Command, in a release to newsmen, arms and ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

He gave the name of the suspects as follows: Babangida Gamji “M” 25 years, of Fobawure Village, Billiri LGA; Dahiru Abdullahi “M” 30 years of Wawa Village, Funakaye LGA; Ahmadu Garba “M” 21 years of Song LGA, Adamawa State; Umaru Bubba a.k.a. Babuga “M” 25 years of Dadin Kowa, Yemaltu-Deba LGA; Isah Haruna “M” 20 years of Dadin Kowa, Yemaltu/Deba LGA and Usman Abdullahi “M” 30 years of Kaltungo LGA while Alhaji Sale Adamu “M” now at large.

Buhari explained that on 29th January 2026 at about 1400hrs, while acting on credible information arrested the suspects concerning a case of armed robbery and criminal conspiracy.

According to the report, sometime in December 2025 at about 0230hrs, the victim (name withheld) was attacked in his residence by the 1st suspect Babangida Gamji in company of three unidentified accomplices. The suspects reportedly assaulted the victim with a rifle and a cutlass and attempted to rob him of his motorcycle. The victim narrowly escaped.

However, the suspects contacted the victim via phone, intimidated him and demanded the sum of six hundred and fifty thousand Naira (₦650,000) threatening severe consequences if he failed to comply, the victim later paid the said amount.

Upon receiving the complaint, Police detectives from the Command immediately launched a detailed investigation which led to the arrest of the principal suspect.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of his five accomplices during an operation with the following items recovered from them: One pump-action rifle, One locally made LAR rifle, Twelve (12) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, One (1) live cartridge, One cutlass and a Cash sum of ₦227,000.

Buhari disclosed that the suspects are currently in Police custody, undergoing further investigation. He assured the public that all efforts are being intensified to arrest the remaining culprit and to ensure that justice is served.

The Command PPRO stated also that the State Police Commissioner, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, commended the officers involved in the operation and reassures the public of the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
