The National Association of Cross River State Students(NACRISS), Worldwide, has expressed its readiness to partner with the state Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA).
The synergy aims at launching the “People-First Campus CEO initiative,” a development that would boost entrepreneurship among undergraduates across local government areas in Cross River.
Speaking during a recent visit by NACRISS-WW team, the Director-General CR-MEDA, Mr. Great Ogban, affirmed the state government’s readiness to supporting entrepreneurship at all levels.
He highlighted the “People-First Campus CEO initiative,” as a key program that would encourage students to start and grow their own businesses while embarking on their academic pursuits.
According to Ogban, “the People-First Campus CEO initiative, will among other things, provide crucial support to student entrepreneurs through the creation of Enterprise Units in every ward and polling units throughout the State, thereby enabling them to scale their small businesses.
The MEDA Director General further charged the visiting students team to remain responsive while embracing both their academic calendar and the skills without fear, if they must excel in life.
Earlier, leader of the 2024/2025 NACRISS-WW Executive Council, David Uke, expressed hope that the initiative would stimulate economic growth and empower students to become self-reliant.
Uke who lauded the Cross River government through MEDA for such gesture, reasoned that only such development would position youths in the state to be at par with others in the global community.
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of a meritorious award to DG-CRMEDA, Great Ogban, in recognition of his contributions to the association and students unionism, by NACRISS-WW.
