The deployment of soldiers to quell the ongoing protest on Tuesday may have worked against the government.
Temper rose on Wednesday following reports that about a dozen of the #Endsars protesters were fell by bullets from the soldiers who opened fire on the protesters the previous day.
The protesters took to the streets on Wednesday to continue the protest despite the warnings and more death have been recorded.
Television Continental, aka TVC, at Ketu, Lagos was set on fire by suspected hoodlums have set fire on October 21, 2020.
A popular talkshow programme, YourView, was on when the hoodlums besieged the station.
The programme host, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, who said the hoodlums entered in a van, asked to go on a commercial break.
The station had since then been stuck.
In the same vein, suspected hoodlums entered the Lagos headquarters of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Marina.
A member of the Lagos State Fire Service, who confirmed the incident, said they set fire to the building.
He noted that efforts were on to salvage the situation.
The firefighter explained that a statement would soon be released on the level of destruction done to the federal facility.
The arson was said to be a fallout of the attack on protesters at the Lekki tollgate.
Also, hoodlums set ablaze the Bus Rapid Transit terminal at Oyingbo, Lagos Mainland, Lagos State.
They also burnt many BRT buses, at least three residents in the area confirmed.
This was seen in a viral video trending across the country.
The leader of the local vigilante team in the area, Agbodemu Ishola, said, “When the news of police stations being burnt spread yesterday, some of us, including NURTW team and mainland security, met with the boys and pleaded with them to ensure that Lagos Mainland is crime-free. They agreed and promised to protest peacefully.
“It was after the meeting that they heard about shootings at Lekki toll gate and they began to mobilise this morning.
“They said they are angry that their friends were shot. They asked the police to go back to their stations and drop their guns. We pleaded with them.
“They threw bottles and other weapons at us. They wanted to attack Denton Police Station but they couldn’t penetrate. The Local Government Secretariat was attacked. They damaged a school. They destroyed over 100 BRT buses. They burnt the terminal.
“They wanted to attack Adekunke Police Station but officers repelled them. That is why there were heavy gunshots. Two vigilantes have been shot. We are in the hospital.”
Also, hoodlums have reportedly set ablaze the terminus of the Bus Rapid Transport at Berger, Lagos State.
One of the eyewitnesses, identified simply as Ola, said, “Over 30 vehicles have been burnt. Many cars that were seized are also affected. The entire building is on fire.”
In addition to the burnt buildings, the offices of the Federal Road Safety Corps and Vehicle Inspection Unit at the Ojodu area of Lagos State have been set ablaze.
Eyewitnesses said many vehicles were burnt.
As at the time of filling this report, Lagos is still under tension despite the 24-hour curfew. More lives and properties are being lost.
