….throws weight behind Izunaso

The Natiobal Forum of All Progressives Congress Ward Chairmen has urged the party’s National Working Committee, NWC to as a matter of urgency micro-zone the 10th National Senate Presidency to South-East.

The group pointed out that micro-zoning to the South East will help the country’s national healing process.

They argued that since the country has three major ethnic groups, it would be expected that ordinarily, the position of the number three citizen should go to the South-East.

The spokesperson for the group, Salisu Abdullahi in his speech appealed to the party NWC to do the needful by zoning the senate Presidency to the South East.

Abdullahi said, “I feel that it is important that we say it as it is. In Nigeria we have three major ethnic groups and I believe we operate a democratic system of government and in the spirit of good governance and equity, the party should do a micro-zoning of the senate presidency.

” We are appealing to the NWC, and the President-elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu who we know as a unifier, to ensure that the senate presidency is zoned to the South East.”

He also pointed out that the zone in the 2023 general elections produced six senators-elect, which according Abdullahi is a far cry to what it used to be.

The group also urged senators-elect to support the candidacy of Osita Izunaso, who they described as a loyal party man for the position of Senate President.

The ward Chairmen further argued that the Imo State Senator had contributed a lot to the party been a foundation member.

Abdullahi said Izunaso is the most ranked Senator from the zone, who cap fits.

“The forum backs Izunaso for the senate presidency for his record as a loyal party man.

“We are therefore urging and appealing to the party leadership to do the needful so that the party would have in place someone of like mind with the President-elect.”
