Former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa Released After 4m Ransom

Prof Onje Gye-Wado, the former deputy governor of Nasarawa state, who was abducted in the early hours of April 7, has been released after a ransom of N4 million was paid.

 

Onje Gye-Wado was reportedly kidnapped from his country home in Rinza, near Wamba, headquarters of Wamba local government area of the state and a demand of N70 million ransom was demanded but the family negotiated down to N2 million and later N3.5 million, before eventually paying N4 million.

Nasarawa State Police Commissioner, Nansel Nimyel, confirmed the release of the former deputy governor, Channels Television reports.

 

Upon his release, Prof Gye-Wado was taken back to the Palace of the paramount ruler of Wamba, Oriye Rindre, Justice Lawal Musa Nagogo.
