The chief of the Kegite club in the university of Benin,Desmond, popularly called Mayor was reportedly shot dead in the Uniben Hall of Residence , Hall 3 in the early hours of Tuesday.
A video of his corpse surfaced online with his brain blown off by the gun shot.
NewsSpecng gathered that Desmond was said to be a final year student.
A Twitter user, Faith Sanusi said ;
“I was in the hostel when we heard the gunshots.
Everyone was running back to their rooms and we heard someone was killed in block F 😔 God help us all🙏
Another user , @drmecurymsn said the issue was caused by the chief refusal to handover to a new chief.
“Chief no wan hand over to somebody else base on say he don collect small thing, the person wey suppose collect the throne, vex for the matter”
“Them go don warn Chief O, but he Dey do strong head, they need to fall am to send msg.
Everywhere don calm for school now” he said
The case of Mayor, isn’t the first case. A Kegite Chief was also killed 10years ago in the university of Benin.
