‘There’s Hardly Electricity in 2026’: Actress Kate Henshaw Tackles Power Minister Over Blackouts

Releated Post

Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has publicly criticized Nigeria’s persistent power outages, calling out the Minister of Power over the country’s unreliable electricity supply.

In a video shared on her Instagram page on Friday, Henshaw expressed frustration over frequent power cuts, describing how electricity often lasts for only a few minutes before being disconnected, forcing households to rely on costly alternative energy sources.

‘Come on, Mr Minister of Power. No light. There’s no light. There’s hardly been any electricity. You people bring it for maybe five minutes, and then it’s gone,’ Henshaw said.

The actress also challenged a reported statement attributed to the minister, who allegedly claimed that some consumers complained in September about constant power freezing their foodstuffs and requested a reduction in supply.

‘You were credited with a statement that in September, some people were telling you that you should turn off the power because the things in their freezers were freezing. What’s a freezer for?’ she queried. ‘I need the names and numbers of these people that called you and said you should turn off the lights… There’s hardly electricity in 2026.’

Henshaw lamented the financial and emotional toll of the ongoing power crisis on citizens, noting that Nigerians deserve reliable energy rather than excuses.

‘We are meant to have electricity this 2026. I’m just so angry,’ she added.

Her outburst highlights the widespread public dissatisfaction with grid reliability, as millions of households and commercial businesses across Nigeria continue to rely heavily on fuel generators and solar power systems.
