The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has urged Nigerians to embrace unity, enterprise resilience, and inclusive economic growth as the nation navigates economic challenges.
The ACCI President, Emeka Obegolu, made the call in his felicitation message to Muslim faithful across Nigeria and the global Islamic community on the occasion of Eid al-Adha celebration.
Obegolu described Eid al-Adha described Eid al-Adha as a season that embodies the enduring values of sacrifice, obedience, compassion, and shared responsibility, according to a statement by Olayemi John-Mensah, ACCI Media and Strategy Officer.
According to him, these virtues are not only central to faith and humanity but are also critical to sustainable economic development and responsible leadership.
Obegolu noted that the celebration provides an opportunity for Nigerians to strengthen social cohesion, extend support to vulnerable members of society, and renew confidence in the country’s economic prospects.
The statement further reads: “As a period of reflection and devotion, Eid al-Adha reminds us of the importance of selflessness, integrity, and collective responsibility. These principles are equally relevant to building a resilient economy and fostering national development,” he said.
“The ACCI President commended Nigerian entrepreneurs, investors, and business owners for their resilience amid prevailing economic pressures. He particularly acknowledged the contributions of Muslim entrepreneurs and professionals whose investments, innovations, and business activities continue to stimulate commerce, create employment opportunities, and enhance national productivity.
“Speaking on the role of the private sector in national development, Obegolu stressed the need for businesses to uphold ethical standards, promote inclusion, and focus on long-term value creation. He argued that enterprises that prioritize integrity, community impact, and collaboration would remain vital to economic stability and sustainable growth.
“He further reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to advocating policies that support businesses and improve the operating environment for investors. According to him, ACCI will continue to champion initiatives that strengthen public-private sector collaboration, empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and enhance Nigeria’s overall investment climate.
“The Chamber also called on Nigerians to use the Eid celebration as an opportunity to promote peace, mutual respect, and generosity, emphasizing that collective sacrifice and national unity remain essential for achieving shared prosperity.
“Expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future, Obegolu said the country possesses the human and economic potential required to achieve greater social progress and economic advancement if citizens work together in pursuit of common goals.
“He wished Muslim faithful a peaceful, joyful, and spiritually fulfilling Eid al-Adha celebration, while encouraging continued commitment to the values of service, compassion, and nation-building.”
