The Nigeria Police says it’s investigating alleged fake appointment letters spreading across Bauchi state
The State Command’s Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, in a statement said the suspected fake appointment scammer, Saleem Alhassan of Zango Area in Bauchi Local Government Area, was handed over for discreet investigation, adding that he was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department on May 18, 2026, by the Area Commander, Bauchi Metropolis for proper investigation.
According to the statement, five fake temporary letters of appointment were recovered from the suspect, adding that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly forged and printed fake appointment letters purportedly issued by a government office in 2025, after allegedly collecting between N500,000 and N750,000 from unsuspecting victims under the pretext of securing employment for them.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, warned members of the public against dealing with individuals or groups promising employment in exchange for money.
