Saudi Arabia — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu performed the Umrah pilgrimage in Makkah, offering prayers for national unity, sustainable peace, and economic stability in Nigeria.
The president undertook the spiritual exercise early Friday morning at the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram), performing the Tawaf—circling the Holy Ka’abah—in thanksgiving and devotion.
Speaking to journalists shortly after completing the rites, Tinubu underscored the spiritual weight of the pilgrimage for the nation.
“I believe this Umrah is very significant for the love of our people, commitment to the job and our country, Nigeria; commitment to the will of Allah that His words must prevail,” Tinubu said. “He’s the only one that makes a human being what he can be and what he would be in life.”
The president noted that his supplications focused on national harmony and overcoming Nigeria’s pressing security and economic challenges.
“I am grateful to Allah for being able to perform this Umrah. We have just prayed for our nation, for everyone to live in peace and harmony, happiness and faith in God Almighty,” he added.
In a statement following the pilgrimage, the presidency reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to fostering a secure, united, and prosperous society where all citizens, regardless of religious or regional background, can thrive in safety and dignity.
