President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah (the lesser Hajj) and offer prayers for the nation’s peace, unity, and stability.
Before embarking on the spiritual journey, the President is scheduled to commission newly acquired operational equipment for the Nigerian Air Force at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The announcement was confirmed in an official statement released on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the presidency, the visit offers the Nigerian leader an opportunity for spiritual devotion, reflection, and intercession for the country’s continued progress and well-being.
”The visit gives the President an opportunity for spiritual reflection, devotion, and prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability, and continued progress,” the statement read.
While in the Holy City of Makkah, President Tinubu will observe the traditional Islamic rites associated with the pilgrimage.
He is expected to return to the country next week upon the completion of his spiritual exercise.
