Cross River governor, Prince Bassey Otu, has said his administration will not leave any sector of the state’s economy unattended.
Otu stated this while flagging off an entertainment walk in solidarity with his re-election bid in 2027.
The walk, tagged “From Influence to Participation,” was organised by the Cross River Chapter of the Creative, Entertainment and Events Community (CEEC) and flagged off at the Mary Slessor Roundabout in Calabar.
The governor, who was represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, assured that he would continue to give life to all sectors of the economy.
Applauding the contributions of the entertainment industry, Otu said his administration is not oblivious of its importance.
“Any administration that does not align with the entertainment industry is heading towards doom, for whatever entertainers are doing is far-reaching and we want the entire world to hear what you are up to, as your activities cut across the world,” he said.
The governor lauded the group for affirming his scorecard through a five-kilometre walk to celebrate his achievements and canvass support for his re-election in the forthcoming 2027 elections.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the group, Mr. Keppy Ekpenyong, said the entertainment industry, satisfied with the governance style of Otu, has resolved to support his re-election bid.
“There is so much capacity here today and the entertainment industry is ready to support the governor for another four years after his first tenure.
“There is no vacancy anywhere in 2027. We are supporting the governor. The young entertainers have spoken, their voice is loud and I am here as Chairman to ensure their voice is heard,” Ekpenyong said.
Earlier, the Director-General, Cross River South of CEEC, Engr. Bobby Ekanem, said the walk was in affirmation of the governor’s good governance which is impacting citizens across the state.
“The creatives have seen what he has done for the state, especially in security, prompt payment of salaries, giving a human face to pensioners, and recovering lost assets and abandoned projects.
“We, as the intermediary between the public and the government, are here to show full support for what we have seen and to announce to the world that come 2027, we will be supporting the governor,” Ekanem stated.
He noted that the group comprises businessmen, entrepreneurs and other creatives who are elated with the leadership style of the present administration and enjoined Cross Riverians to support the governor for a second term.
