Just in: APC withdraws petition challenging Adeleke’s re-election victory

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday withdrew its suit challenging the victory of of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State.

This is coming barely 24 hours after the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal displayed two petitions challenging the reelection victory.

APC and Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) had challenged the outcome of the election in suit number EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026 and EPT/OS/GOV/02/2026, filed on Saturday respectively.

The APC suit was filed by its counsel, Barr Oluseyi Oyagbile and submitted at the Tribunal in company of the deputy governorship candidate of the party, Engr Kayode Adereti who signed on behalf of Bola Oyebamiji and other party leaders.

An acclaimed APC legal team led by Abiodun Layonu, SAN denounced the petition, insisting that the party is not challenging the outcome of the election.

Speaking about the development, Barr Oyagbile confirmed to THE NATION on phone that he has withdrawn the petition that was filed by the party.

He said his client and party leaders have reached out to him to withdraw the petition.

His words: “My client and leaders of APC reached out to me this morning to withdraw the petition I filed on their behalf, I have withdrawn the petition.

“Before I do so, I made them send WhatsApp messages to me giving the instruction so that it will not be a matter of controversy again.”

He reiterated that the deputy governorship candidate of APC, Adereti signed the petition in company of party leaders and excos at the tribunal on Saturday.
