Nigeria’s Ambassador to Hungary, Engr. Abasi Ogwime Braimah, has reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare, unity and progress of Nigerians living in Hungary and other countries under his diplomatic accreditation.
Braimah made the commitment on Friday, August 7, 2026, when he held a familiarisation meeting with members of the Executive of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), Hungary Chapter, at the Nigerian Embassy in Budapest.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Ambassador and representatives of the Nigerian community to exchange views on issues affecting Nigerians in Hungary and discuss practical measures for strengthening collaboration between the Embassy and diaspora organisations.
The NIDO Hungary delegation was led by its Chairman, Hon. Chief Komolafe Omotunde, and included the General Secretary, Aese Agaigbe; Financial Secretary, Oyun Adesoye; Social Secretary, Aese Cynthia Aese; and Treasurer, Erenwa Olaedo Cynthia.
Speaking during the engagement, Ambassador Braimah stressed the importance of unity, cooperation and mutual support among Nigerians in Hungary.
He said the Embassy remained committed to engaging constructively with the Nigerian community and promoting initiatives capable of advancing the welfare, aspirations and interests of Nigerians in the diaspora.
The Ambassador also underscored the need for stronger collaboration between the diplomatic mission, NIDO and other Nigerian community organisations operating in Hungary.
According to him, effective cooperation among the various stakeholders would contribute to building a more cohesive, vibrant and supportive Nigerian community while ensuring that the interests and concerns of Nigerians were adequately represented.
Braimah emphasised that the Embassy could achieve more in its engagement with Nigerians abroad through sustained dialogue and partnership with recognised community organisations.
He therefore encouraged continued cooperation between the Embassy and NIDO, noting that a united Nigerian community would be better positioned to address challenges confronting its members and contribute positively to Nigeria-Hungary relations.
Responding on behalf of NIDO Hungary, its Chairman, Omotunde, assured the Ambassador of the organisation’s readiness to work closely with the Embassy.
He pledged NIDO Hungary’s support for initiatives aimed at promoting the welfare, unity and advancement of Nigerians living in the country.
The NIDO leadership also expressed its willingness to contribute to efforts designed to strengthen communication and cooperation between the Nigerian diplomatic mission and the wider Nigerian community.
