Th Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has publicly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid and the governorship aspiration of Hon. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda ahead of the 2027 General Election, while declaring that the era of political confrontation in the state has come to an end.
The governor made the declaration on Wednesday during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Riven Medical Industries Project in Port Harcourt, where he announced that he had aligned with the Rainbow Coalition, a political platform spearheaded by his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, to advance the interests of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.
Fubara said all differences had been resolved and that political stakeholders were now united in pursuit of peace, stability and development.
He urged his supporters across Rivers State to set aside past grievances and join him in backing President Tinubu, Chinda and all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
“We have made peace in the state and I am supporting our Rainbow Coalition.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our president, and is the one we are supporting. OK Chinda is the governorship candidate that I am supporting and anybody who believes in me will support him and every other candidate that is under the Rainbow Coalition,” the governor said.
He added that he had “gone back to our family” and appealed to political supporters to rally behind the coalition, stressing that the focus should now be on unity rather than division.
According to him, “the time of war is over,” noting that peace would provide the platform for greater progress and development in Rivers State.
Fubara also sought to eliminate any ambiguity regarding his political position, insisting that no individual or group should claim to be acting on his behalf outside the Rainbow Coalition.
He warned against any political activity capable of reigniting tensions in the state, saying he had fulfilled his responsibility by embracing reconciliation and was committed to moving Rivers State forward through cooperation rather than conflict.
the governor highlighted the significance of the Riven Medical Industries Project, describing it as a strategic investment that aligns with his administration’s economic diversification agenda.
He, however, cautioned against a repeat of previous investment failures in which agreements between the state and investors ended in litigation after contractual obligations were allegedly abandoned.
Fubara said his administration approved the new investment after satisfying itself that the promoters possess the technical and financial capacity to successfully revive the project.
He charged the investors to adhere strictly to agreed timelines, expressing confidence that the first phase of the development would be completed within the next three months.
The governor also appealed to host communities and the leadership of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area to provide an enabling environment for the project’s successful implementation.
He assured the developers of continued government support, stressing that the initiative would generate employment opportunities, stimulate industrial growth and strengthen healthcare delivery in the state.
The Riven Medical Industries Project is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the Rivers State Government and Enbay Pharmaceutical Industries Limited.
The initiative is being executed through Riven Medical Industries Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle established to revive and redevelop the former Integrated Medical Industries (IMI) into a modern pharmaceutical manufacturing complex.
According to project details, the facility will produce pharmaceutical formulations, gelatine capsules, intravenous infusions and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), thereby expanding Nigeria’s local drug manufacturing capacity, reducing dependence on imported medicines and strengthening the country’s healthcare value chain.
