The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has urged Nigerians to remain united in the fight against insurgency and other security threats, following the successful rescue of students and teachers abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a statement, the Director-General of the agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, praised the professionalism and bravery of the nation’s security agencies, describing the intelligence-led operation as proof that coordinated efforts can effectively combat terrorism.
He said the month-long operation in the Old Oyo National Park led to the rescue of the victims without the payment of ransom, while also disrupting the activities of the terrorists.
Issa-Onilu called on Nigerians to support security agencies by remaining vigilant, reporting suspicious activities and promoting national unity. He also paid tribute to security personnel who lost their lives or sustained injuries during the operation.
The NOA boss reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting responsible citizenship and mobilising Nigerians to build a peaceful, united and secure nation.
