Obudu Mountain Resort recently played host to members of the Healthy Billionaires Fitness Club during its seventh edition of annual fitness challenge, tagged: “OMR 7.0 L’Adventure Edition,” with the theme: “Think Cross River.”
The event attracted over 50 young professionals drawn from government establishments, corporate organisations, the private sector, business circles, military and other professional backgrounds.
The journey commenced from Calabar to Obudu, with participants documenting ongoing government interventions on the road network, which have significantly reduced travel time to the world-class resort.
It also showcased the rich natural beauty of Cross River while highlighting its diverse flora and fauna.
The four-day adventure at the Ranch, officially flagged off by the Cross River Commissioner for finance, Dr Michael Odere, who represented the governor, Prince Bassey Otu, featured a series of exciting activities as participants were first treated to a welcome bonfire and barbecue night, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience.
Earlier, Chairman of the Healthy Billionaires Fitness Club, William Archibong Jnr., welcomed participants and expressed delight at the impressive turnout recorded for this year’s edition.
He appreciated the Cross River government for its continued support and acknowledged partners including Nugi Tech and Odere Brothers, for supporting the club through the “Think Cross River” initiative.
On his part, Vice Chairman of the club, Mr. Great Ogban, noted that the event represents the club’s contribution towards supporting and promoting the current administration by showcasing the ongoing revitalisation of the Obudu Mountain Resort.
The grueling 11-kilometre hike through the Obudu hills while navigating the famous 22 sharp bends, tested participants’ endurance with the first set of hikers completing the challenge in less than two hours, 15 minutes.
Chairman of the L’Adventure Edition, Mr. Effiom Effiwat, described the event as highly successful and memorable.
According to him, members enjoyed a welcome bonfire and barbecue party on arrival, a sumptuous brunch after the fitness walk and a fully activated club party at the arena.
On the third day, participants celebrated Father’s Day with a lavish “Brunch in the Clouds,” before proceeding downhill to the world-class Obudu Centurion Hotel and Resort, where they were hosted to a pool party, club night and overnight stay.
Members departed for Calabar on the fourth day after a group breakfast, bringing to a close what many described as one of the most spectacular editions of OMR in terms of planning and execution.
The Healthy Billionaires Fitness Club reaffirmed its commitment to promoting healthy living while remaining at the forefront of showcasing the tourism potential and natural beauty of Cross River.
