…AS OSEJI LEADS THANKSGIVING, UNVEILS FINAL ACTIVITIES
The 2026 Delta State Public Service Week reached another significant milestone on Sunday with a solemn Thanksgiving Service held at the Church of God Mission, Asaba, as government officials and civil servants gathered to appreciate God for the dedication, resilience and contributions of the state’s workforce.
Representing Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori at the service, the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, conveyed the Governor’s goodwill to the public servants, emphasizing that the administration remains committed to supporting the welfare of the civil service.
“I am here as a messenger of our working Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori. A day like this will not pass without the Governor showing his presence,” Onyeme said.
He thanked God for the opportunity to celebrate with the state’s workforce, describing public servants as the driving force behind the growth and development of Delta State.
“We thank God for the men and women whose dedicated service continues to advance the development of our state. Though much of your work is done quietly, its impact is deeply felt across every sector,” he stated.
The Deputy Governor reminded civil servants that public service is a sacred trust that demands integrity, commitment and selfless service.
“As we thank God today, let us remain committed to serving faithfully. I assure you that this administration will continue to support your welfare, and together we will build a more prosperous and responsive civil service.
“As we return to our various duties, may we do so with renewed faith and commitment. May God continue to bless Delta State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.
Earlier in her remarks, the Head of Service, Dr. Mrs. Mininim Oseji, expressed gratitude to God for the successful activities recorded so far during the Public Service Week, noting that the annual thanksgiving service has become an important aspect of the celebration.
“This is the third time we are holding a thanksgiving service with top government functionaries joining us to worship God. We are grateful for His faithfulness throughout our service,” she said.
Dr. Oseji announced that the celebration would continue on Monday with a basketball tournament at the Head of Service’s residence, while the grand finale, tagged Gala Night, will hold on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori expected to attend.
She thereafter invited the Deputy Governor, other government officials and the congregation to participate in the thanksgiving offering.
The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, was represented at the service by Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, member representing Oshimili South State Constituency. Also in attendance were the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Sir Chris Osakwe; the Chairman of the Delta State Civil Service Commission, Lady Rose Amioku, represented by the Fourth Member of the Commission, Barr. Ikechukwu Maduemezie, alongside the College of Permanent Secretaries, directors and staff from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The thanksgiving service attracted a large gathering of senior government officials and public servants, highlighting the importance of faith, unity and dedication in the continued growth of the Delta State Civil Service.
Activities marking the 2026 Public Service Week will continue on Monday with a basketball tournament at the residence of the Head of Service before culminating on Tuesday 30 June. with the Gala Night, which will officially bring the week-long celebration to a close.
