The Police has impounded 22 vehicles and arrested three suspects during a crime prevention patrol in Asaba metropolis of Delta.
The statement shared via X.com and signed by the command’s spokesman, SP Edafe Bright, on Sunday, said the operation was conducted on Friday, May 8 by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, who led a combined team drawn from the Department of Operations (DOPS Buffalo), Special Enquiry Unit, and Operation Delta Shield.
According to Bright, the vehicles were seized for traffic and regulatory offences, including driving unregistered vehicles, operating without number plates, driving against traffic, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
He wrote, “During the operation, twenty-two (22) vehicles were impounded for various traffic and regulatory offences, including driving unregistered vehicles, operating vehicles without registration number plates, driving against traffic, and driving under the influence of alcohol.”
He added that three suspects were also arrested for obstructing and assaulting police officers in the course of their duties.
“Additionally, three (3) suspects were arrested for obstruction and assault on police officers while carrying out their lawful duties.”
The spokesman assured residents that the command would remain firm and unbiased in enforcing the law regardless of a person’s status.
“The Delta State Police Command wishes to assure members of the public that the Command remains firm, professional, and unbiased in enforcing the law, irrespective of status or position,” he said.
He urged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with the police by providing information that could aid crime prevention and public safety.
