Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Abubakar Kyari thanked Vice President Kashim Shettima and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna state for honouring his late father, Brig. Gen. Abba Kyari.
Kashim Shettima commissioned the new 1,300-seat Brigadier General Abba Kyari Banquet Hall at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, constructed by the Kaduna State Government.
The facility is designed to host diplomatic meetings, international conferences, and state events.
The hall is named after the late Brig. Gen. Kyari was the first military governor of the former North-Central State and father of the agriculture minister.
Governor Sani said the name honours “a legacy of discipline, humility, and steady service” and helps the state preserve history and recognize past leaders.
Speaking for the family, Minister Kyari called the recognition deeply meaningful and noted his father’s role in developing infrastructure in the state.
Brig. Gen. Kyari led the North-Central State after its creation in 1967.
