The President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Emeka Ebegolu, has formally announced the maiden edition of Agro-Meqa Expo 2026, a major continental initiative aimed at transforming Nigeria’s agricultural landscape through mechanisation, innovation, and export-oriented production.
The announcement was made on Tuesday at the President’s Conference Centre, ACCI, in Abuja, before an audience of journalists, stakeholders, and partners across the agricultural value chain.
Organised by the ACCI Agricultural Trade Group in collaboration with JMT Plus Farms and Agro-Allied, the Expo is scheduled to hold from June 10 to 11, 2026, at the Prince Adetokunbo Kayode SAN Trade and Convention Centre, located within the ACCI Complex along Airport Road, Abuja.
The event will convene under the theme “Technology and Investment for Agro-Exports,” reflecting a strategic focus on repositioning Nigeria’s agricultural sector for enhanced productivity, value addition, and global competitiveness.
Described as a landmark initiative, Agro-Meqa Expo 2026 is expected to serve as a premier platform bringing together policymakers, agribusiness investors, manufacturers of agricultural machinery, technology providers, financial institutions, research bodies, farmers’ associations, and international development partners.
A major highlight of the event will be the anticipated official declaration by Nigeria’s Vice President, alongside a keynote address by the President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture, Jani Ibrahim.
His address is expected to focus on agro-export development and the critical role of private capital in strengthening agricultural value chains.
According to the organisers, the two-day expo will feature exhibitions of cutting-edge agricultural technologies, including mechanised equipment, precision farming tools, irrigation systems, agro-processing solutions, and climate-smart innovations.
It will also host high-level panel discussions, technical sessions, interactive workshops, and business-to-business engagements designed to foster collaboration, mobilise investment, and promote technology transfer.
Beyond exhibitions, the Expo is positioned as a strategic investment marketplace, aimed at connecting local producers, agro-tech innovators, and agribusiness operators with investors seeking opportunities in mechanisation, processing, logistics, and export operations.
A dedicated live demonstration segment will showcase advanced farming technologies in real time, while an agro-processing and packaging platform will highlight opportunities for local value addition. In a bid to nurture future innovators, the event will also include school-focused agro-expo activities and competitions.
Ebegolu emphasised that the initiative reflects a shared commitment by ACCI, JMT Plus Farms and Agro-Allied, and other partners to accelerate agricultural modernisation as a pathway to national economic prosperity.
He noted that strengthening mechanisation and attracting strategic investments would unlock the sector’s full potential, create jobs, boost rural economies, and enhance Nigeria’s position in global agricultural markets.
The organisers expressed confidence that Agro-Maker Expo 2026 will catalyse significant investment inflows, deepen public-private partnerships, and contribute to long-term transformation of the agricultural sector.
They called on relevant ministries, departments, and agencies, private sector players, development partners, and the international community to actively participate in the event, stressing that collaboration and capital mobilisation remain essential to achieving sustainable agricultural growth.
Key partners for the Expo include the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, and several financial institutions.
The ACCI also urged media organisations to provide extensive coverage to ensure widespread awareness and engagement, noting that the event promises substantial economic and developmental impact.
