The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Gombe State has accused the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for raising false narrative indicating, ‘blood on Gombe streets’ following the gruesome murder of a young industrialist in the State.

45 year old Ahmed Aliyu, popularly known as Amadi Kasiran, was hacked to death by armed wielding thugs last Sunday, raising serious concerns on the fragile security situation in the State which the PDP accused the State Government of undermining.

The APC in a response through it’s Publicity Secretary, Moses Kyari, in turn accused the opposition PDP of raising false alarm by saying that, ‘there is blood in Gombe streets’.

According to Moses, the false narrative was raised to cause mischief and mislead undiscerning citizens with a view to achieve cheap political point.

The APC cautioned the PDP against politicising the issue of security. It said, “it is quite unfortunate that the PDP would condescend so low as to say it is warning the APC Government of Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, how callous, uncouth and reckless can a party go to gain popularity. No sane person should make security matter political as it is tantamount to playing with the lives of the people.

“We call on the PDP to engage in responsible opposition and avoid sensationalism and concocted stories with a view to causing dissafection among the citizenry. They should stay within the confines of acceptable norms for conducting opposition politics and not brigandage”, it emphasized.

It described the murder of Ahmed Aliyu as despicable and probably a robbery attack gone wrong. It called on the citizens of Gombe to remain calm as the Government is on top of the situation. “The incident cannot be used as a measurement of insecurity in Gombe State”, it pointed out.

“It will be uncharitable for the crisis ridden opposition PDP to accuse the Government of Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for not doing anything to enhance and sustain the security of the State. It is either they do not live and work in Gombe or they are hallucinating.

“It is the responsibility of every Government to protect the lives and properties of its citizens and to create an enabling environment for development to take place, and so therefore, the APC Government of Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya can not be an exception”, Mr Moses stated.

The APC publicity Secretary went further to itemize several measures and interventions taken by the Government enhance security in the State which include, the creation of multi security outfit called ‘Operation Hattara’, the purchase and donation of over 50 fully equipped patrol vehicles installed with State of the art communication gadgets and another 50 vehicles for various security formations in the State.

Others are, the installation of solar powered street lights which has drastically reduced the activities of criminals.

The Government also installed Close Circuit Camera (CCTV) in may parts of the State, created the State Ministry of Internal Security as well as convening a security summit with top security chiefs in attendance among many other security measures.

End.
