The Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to the Governor Siminialayi Fubara, Friday, resumed its legislative plenary despite the ruling by the Court of Appeal

The Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo led Assembly commenced plenary after stating that they have appealed the Court of Appeal judgement that voided the State High Court decision that gave them power to serve as Speaker and members of the state legislature.

The Court of Appeal on Thursday in suit CA/PH/198/2024 filled by Amaewhule and others declared the High Court order that barred them from parading as speaker and lawmakers null and void.

But, Jumbo, said they were already at the Supreme Court challenging the judgement of the Appeal Court delivered which held that that Justice Charles Wali of the State high lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the matter of the state legislature.

However, when the assembly resumed Friday, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon Adolphus Orubienimigha and the Leader of the House, Hon Sokari Goodboy, sponsored two bills.

The bills included the Rivers State Emergency Management Agency Bill, 2024 that was presented by Goodboy, while the second, the Rivers State Transport Company Reform Bill, 2024, was sponsored by Orubienimigha.

The house meanwhile, considered the two bills, opened debate, and moved them through first reading.
