First Lady donates #160m developmental fund to FCT state schools

The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu has 16 government schools in the FCT #160m through her NGO, Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) as school developmental support.

The first lady at the State House on Monday presented a board cheque of #10m to each of the schools during the year-2024 Children Day celebration with the theme “Our Children, Our Future.

She described the children as the promise of a greater tomorrow.
She further explained that the celebration was also in commemoration of President Bola Tinubu’s first year administration anniversary making it a double celebration for the children and the nation.

“As we celebrate Children’s Day, a special day, dedicated to you, I want you all to know that you bring immense joy and hope to us your parents and to Nigeria.

“Through the RHI, I am taking action to support the President’s efforts by implementing programmes focused on education, agriculture, healthcare, and improving family lives in general.

“On behalf of the RHI, each participating school will be given a grant of the sum of N10m towards their schools’ developmental needs.

“In addition to our various educational interventions, the “Young Farmers’ Club” will soon be launched in Public Schools across the nation,” Mrs Tinubu said.

She explained that the Club would be launched in State-owned Primary and Secondary Schools across the country adding that schools with the best farms would get prizes.

“To our dear children, I want to encourage you to nurture your curiosity, and keep learning. Getting the right education and going to school is important for your future.

“Never be afraid to ask questions and seek guidance. No matter the challenges you may face, continue to dream big, and aspire for greatness.

“To our teachers, you are our burden bearers and nurturers, I encourage you to always give our children a listening ear and continue to be a great pillar of support.

“We recognise your sacrifices and contributions.

“I want to reassure you that President Tinubu, is committed to building a nation where every Nigerian child can reach their full potential. The future is very promising and I want you all to stay focused in life.”

The Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima further encouraged all parents to train up their children appropriately.

One of the pupils of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) who presented a state-drama Tamara Martin thanked Mrs Tinubu for her kindness.

She said that she was happy that her school was part of the benefactors of the developmental fund.S

She urged Nigerians to unite according to the title of her presentation.
