Gombe Due Process DG bags UN-POLAC peace advocate award

The Director General of the Gombe State Due Process Office, Babayola Mohammed Isah, has bagged the prestigious peace award of the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC).

The award ceremony which was held at the Lagos Airport Hotel Ikeja, Lagos, was conferred on him by the Director General of UN-POLAC Foundation, Professor Holo B. Eton, through officials of the Foundation.

The event took place on 24/04/2024 which also coincided with the ‘International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace’, commemorated by the United Nations General Assembly.

The award also certified Mr. Babayola as the ‘Mayor of Peace’ and the appointment is accompanied with the following: UN-POLAC’s certificate of appointment award, International ID card, Investiture apparel, Flag of authority to be hoisted at any place of his choice, and a special vehicle plate number in collaboration with the FRSC (available on request).

The Positive Livelihood Award Centre (POLAC) established in 2021 and affiliated with the United Nations and UNESCO following the General Assembly Resolution declaring 2001 – 2010 as a decade of peace and non violence, hence the name UN-POLAC.

It’s mandate is to enhance the effectiveness of the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) now Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) and UNESCO culture of peace project, particularly the maintenance of peace and security and restoration of human dignity.

Congratulations had continued to pour in to Mr. Babayola, a former National President of NUBIFIE, particularly from the union whose current Deputy President, Chinedu Ogbonna, presented.

Describing the award, Mr Babayola expressed delight over the honour done to him and promised to put in his utmost best in promoting and instilling peaceful coexistence among humanity.

He also assured that he will be engaged in efforts at resolving disputes or conflicts whenever the opportunity affords itself.

In the appointment/nomination letter to Mr. Babayola, it categorically states that, “as an International Peace Advocate, you can be called upon for peace making, conflict resolution and other activities that encourage peace and positive living in line with the best international practices”.
