Terrorists on Sunday stormed  Tashar Nagulle village in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State in military uniforms.

At the end of their operations, no fewer than 30 persons were abducted.

The incident which sources said occurred at about 8:00 pm on Sunday, when most of the residents were preparing to retire for the day to bed.

The terrorists were said to have stormed the community in their numbers and were armed with automatic weapons.

A source said on arrival, the terrorists fired several shots into the air to announce their presence, then began pursuing people who ran out of their homes, ostensibly to hide in nearby farmlands and bushes.

“The terrorists left their motorcycles some few meters from the village and trekked to the village; they also went from house to house dragging several people out,” one of the sources said.

“When residents began to flee away, the terrorists who went after them began shouting at them to stop running, and that they were military personnel who had come to help them with the security situation in the area.

“Those who were deceived and others that were dragged out of their homes, were rounded up and moved to where they had parked their motorcycles.

He added that those captured included married women and single girls, and that they were over 30 in number.

He said that “one of the abducted persons who managed to escape and run back to the village, overheard the terrorists count 31 persons, and that all of those abducted were taken away into the forest on the motorcycles.”

The incident is coming after last week Thursday’s incident at Saki Jiki village in Batsari council, in which hijab-wearing terrorists attacked a security post where they killed a policeman and injured another.

The council area is among those facing incessant security challenge in the state, with several people killed, maimed, or abducted in recent time.

The Katsina State Police Command was yet to confirm or deny the incident as at time of filing this report.
