..says it was not well planned

…Nigerians will speak in one accord in due time

The Nigeria Labour Congress criticized Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidy, stating that it was not well thought out and would set the economy back by 50%.

The National President, NLC, Joe Ajaero told PUNCH in Abuja that the announcement would also draw the economy of the country backward by 50 percent.

“The comment on fuel subsidy removal is not well thought out, coming as an inaugural speech. It is going to draw the economy of the country backward by over 50 percent within the next 48 hours. Nigerians will speak in one accord at the appropriate moment,” he said.

The Trade Union of Congress also demanded that the newly sworn-in President meet with organized labour before making any pronouncements about fuel subsidy removal.

Timmy Etim, the National Vice-President of TUC, stated that making such announcements without first consulting organized labour could lead to panic buying and exorbitant fuel prices.

The President must avoid disappointing the people who brought him to power by causing unnecessary hardship.
