Man in court for alleged breach of trust, theft

A 34-year-old human resources manager, Marshal Joseph, was on Thursday docked at the Dei-Dei Grade 1 Area Court Abuja, for alleged breach of trust and theft.

The police charged Joseph of Arab Road Kubwa Abuja, with breach of trust and theft but pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.

The prosecutor, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that the complainant, Mr Sokomba Danjuma of Big Ideas Supermarket , 69 Road Gwarinpa, Abuja, reported the matter at the Galadima Police Station on April 3

Ogada said the complainant claimed that on March 9 in the cause of routine check, the CCTV in supermarket captured the defendant with a rechargeable fan worth N90, 600 .

He said the complainant also claimed that sometime in December 2022 the defendant intentionally switch off all the 30 CCTV cameras covering the supermarket for a week.

Ogada said that the defendant switch off the cameras to enable him cataway items from the supermarket without being seen while the general manager was out of town.

The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the defendant took the police to his family house at Arab Road Kubwa, Abuja but refused to take the police to his personal house.

The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of sections 312 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Mr Saminu Suleiman, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 and a surety in like sum.

He ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

Sulieman adjourned the case until April 11 for hearing.
