Manson Greenwood will not be returning to Manchester United team before the end of this season. The 21-year-old forward has been suspended by his club since January 2022 when he was first accused of attempted rape and assault.
He was arrested and charged, however, these have since been dropped by police.
Greenwood’s future remains up in the air with Man United conducting an internal investigation.
The Daily Mail reports that this ‘will not be completed before the summer’, meaning Greenwood will not return to the fold this season. The report says that Man United declined to comment.
The report adds that the club ‘will not be rushed into making a decision’, and are continuing to conduct due diligence into the circumstances surrounding his arrest and his off-field conduct.
Sponsors Nike, EA Sports and Cadbury all cut ties with Greenwood when the allegations first emerged, while his no.11 shirt is no longer for sale. However, it’s not been reassigned.
