A white coaster Bus carrying Passengers on Monday afternoon in Abuja burst into flames opposite the Abacha barracks sparking panic among the passersby, and motorists.
The vehicle was conveying passengers from Wuse to Maraba
Newsspec found out from one of the passenger who said she noticed smoke was coming out of the car engine before the fire.
” I notice something was smelling like smoke in the car and I told the driver but he waved it off’
“After a while, the smoke began to come out from under the bus then I forced my way out of the bus”
The conducter was telling me to keep calm that it was a minor issue but I refused and forced my way out”
Others in the bus followed suit as everybody rushed out of the car , some went out through the window”
According to the lady, immediately we all came out , the bus exploded and began to catch fire”
The vehicle burnt beyond recognition, as on coming vehicles had to turn back to follow the other side of the road.
The incident caused gridlock along the Nynanya Maraba express road.
With passersby all staring at the vehicle going up in flames , some were taking pictures and videos.
After some minutes , a fire fighter tanker from the Abacha barrack came to the scene to put off the fire.
Fortunately, no life was lost.
