Hoodlums loot Kubwa NYSC camp for palliatives

Some unidentified hoodlums on Tuesday morning broke into the Orientation Camp of the National Youth Corps in Kubwa, Abuja.

The looters were also on rampage in Kuje as they go about in search of palliatives.

Those who stormed NYSC camp were armed with knives and other sharp objects. They also obstructed the road and ordered motorists to turn back.

They were seen coming out of the NYSC camp with mattresses, plastic chairs and other items.

According to reports, the hoodlums got wind that COVID-19 palliatives were stored in the NYSC camp, but reaching there, they could not find any food item.

Frustrated by what they saw, the hoodlums started looting foams, chairs tables, televisions and other properties they could see.

Residents in the vicinity also took advantage of the chaos to participate in the looting.

Also, there was anxiety in Kuje, one of the six area councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as hoodlums were seen searching to loot any warehouse with COVID-19 palliatives.

They have been marching round the streets with sticks, blocking roads within the Kuje township.

Residents were running for safety as traders were also locking their shops and moving out of the market to avoid crisis.

Three people were stampeded to death on Monday when hoodlums broke into the Gwagwalada COVID-19 warehouse and looted foodstuff and other valuables there.

Security operatives, the soldiers and police are trying to calm the situation.
