It quoted the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, as saying that the schools were shut down over \u201ctension generated by the anti-SARS protests.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reports have it that academic activities were affected in some schools in the state on Monday as protests against police brutality and bad governance continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement read in part, \u201cThe Lagos State Government has directed all pupils\/students in public and private schools to stay at home following the tension generated by the anti-SARS protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA new date of resumption for all classes will be announced as soon as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adefisayo added that \u201cthe safety of the pupils\/students, parents and all staff working in schools is paramount at this critical period\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She however advised parents to \u201ckeep an eye on their wards and not allow them to be used as willing tools in the hands of those who might want to hijack the protests to unleash mayhem on the society\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Commissioner also encouraged schools to \u201cutilise other means of distance teaching and learning i.e radio, television and online media as they have been doing during and post the recent COVID-19 lockdown\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many students and teachers encountered difficulty in getting to schools in the state on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nigerian government may have deployed Soldiers to the streets of Abuja to quell the ongoing #ENDSARS protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The youth across the country in the last one week have come together to protest police brutality and calling for the scraping of the special unit in the force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deployment of the soldier was said to be as a result of the violence dimension the protest was taking as the protesters usually come under the attacks by some sponsored hoodlums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since the commencement of the peotest in Abuja, lots of cars have neen damaged wirh several persons injured with vehicles damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also, a protester, who was stabbed by one of such hoodlums at the weekend was reported to have died in a hospital as a result of the injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Around the popular AYA Roundabout where the protesters had planned to block on Monday, armed soldiers were seen patrolling to ensure flow of traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They mounted barricades as they tried to manage the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were reports of similar scenarios in other parts of the city as the protesters divide themselves into groups and operate from various locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Nigerian Army recently announced \u2018Operation Crocodile Smile\u2019 will kick off from October 20 to December 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, has directed all government health facilities to attend to protest casualties.
The minister directed that casulties arriving Federal Tertiary Hospitals with evocative injuries should not be rejected on account of inability to pay for service.
\"All such persons are to receive treatment without delay,\" he said.
He added \"Chief Executive Officers of all Federal Tertiary Hospitals are to note this directive for immediate compliance please.\"
The minister noted that the administration places priority on the health and wellbeing of citizens and residents and is committed to assuring that lives are not lost needlessly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, he also reminded Nigerians on the need \"to still adhere under all conditions to non-pharmaceutical measures when outdoors, especially the use of face masks and hand sanitizers, as well as social distancing, in order to preserve the gains we have made in stemming community transmission of COVID-19 in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
