The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) has unveiled a Computer-Based Test Centre, dining and students’ preparatory halls at NAOWA College, Abuja, to boost education and welfare of military families.
The President of NAOWA, Mrs Safiyyah Shaibu, in her welcome address at the inauguration in Abuja on Wednesday, described the project as a reflection of vision, commitment, and purposeful leadership.
The wife of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) said the CBT Centre and other facilities would enhance the educational experience of students and contribute to the development of the nation.
She described the projects as NAOWA’s efforts aimed at boosting the morale of serving personnel and their families, particularly in these challenging times.
She acknowledged the efforts of the immediate past President of NAOWA, Mrs Mernan Femi-Oluyede, who initiated the projects, and expressed gratitude to the COAS for his support.
She said that the facilities would benefit not only the students of NAOWA College but also the broader military community and surrounding areas.
According to her, the commission is a testament to NAOWA’s commitment to education and welfare initiatives that support military families.
She expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the completion of the projects, acknowledging the importance of continuity and collective effort in achieving shared goals.
“The CBT Centre is expected to provide students with equal opportunities to prepare for a digital future, while the dining hall and students’ preparatory hall are designed to promote physical well-being and academic focus.”
The NAOWA President urged students to utilise the facilities responsibly and make the most of the opportunities provided.
She also thanked the presidents of other military and police associations for their support and unity in advancing the welfare of military families.
She expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the completion of the projects, acknowledging the importance of continuity and collective effort in achieving shared goals.
The COAS, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, in his remarks commended NAOWA for its efforts in enhancing education and welfare of military families.
The COAS, who was represented by the Chief of Administration (Army), Maj.-Gen. Isa Abdullahi, said the facilities would provide students with opportunities to develop digital literacy, enjoy a modern dining space, and have a serene environment for academic pursuits.
In her remarks, the President of Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Mernan Femi-Oluyede, praised NAOWA’s commitment to educational excellence, as marked by the inauguration of the facilities.
Oluyede described the facilities as symbols of vision, commitment, and leadership, initiated during her tenure and completed through collaborative efforts with her successor.
She highlighted the importance of continuity in leadership, commending Shaibu for sustaining the vision and ensuring completion of the projects.
According to her, the facilities are expected to enhance educational standards, provide students with digital literacy skills, and prepare them for a technology-driven world.
She urged students to utilise the facilities responsibly, work harder, think boldly, and uphold values of discipline, integrity, and excellence.
