Arrangements are in top gear for the official commencement of the Civil Service Technology Empowerment for Capacity & High-performance (CIVTECH) Programme, by the Cross River governor, Prince Bassey Otu.
The programme would also see 2,000 civil servants being equipped with essential digital skills, fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency within the public sector.
Speaking on the initiative, CEO/ DG, Cross River Microfinance and Entreprise Development Agency, CR-MEDA, Great Ogban, affirmed that the CIVTECH programme is more than a training series and remains a strategic investment in the future of governance aimed at driving the People First agenda of the present administration in the state.
Ogban remarked that by empowering civil servants with 21st-century tools, Cross River would be positioning itself as a leading state in the nation’s digital economy.
“The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Office of the Head of Service, CR-MEDA, and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
“The programme would also feature a lineup of prominent leaders in digital governance and public service, including the DG of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the DG of CR-MEDA, Cross River Head of Service, Barr Orok Okon, and the Centre Manager, Cross River ICT Hub, Ekuri Ekuri Asu,” Ogban informed.
Throwing more light on the programme, Ogban explained that, the CIVTECH programme is in line with the federal government’s agenda to adopt paperless civil service while reducing bottlenecks.
The initiative, designed to digitally transform the state’s workforce, is set to kick off its intensive training on Monday, February 16th, 2026 at the ICT hub, featuring high-impact schedules strategically positioned to accommodate the large number of participants.
