Emir Of Gombe Confers Traditional Title of ‘Wakilin Sadarwa’ on State NUJ Chairman

The Gombe State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Alhaji Farouk Mu’azu Gombe, was honoured with a traditional title by the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III.

 

Farouk Mu’azu, who is now the ‘Wakilin Sadarwan Gombe’ (mouthpiece of the Emirate), was conferred with the title, Sunday afternoon, by the representative of the Emir, Alhaji Usman Mohammad, the Shamaki of Gombe, who led a seven-man powerful delegation from the Emirate, and announced the conferment.

 

The conferment ceremony, which took place at the family house of the celebrant, was attended by many Journalists within and outside Gombe as well as friends, relatives, associates and well wishers.

 

The Shamaki of Gombe, Alhaji Usman Mohammad, while presenting the Emir’s message, explained that the honour was conferred in recognition of Mu’azu’s positive contributions to the Emirate and Gombe State as a whole.

 

He tasked the new ‘Wakilin Sadarwan Gombe’ to prioritize honesty, community services, promoting respect for elders and mentoring young ones while discharging his responsibilities.

 

The NUJ Chairman was also urged to be dedicated and always ready for tasks adding that the Emir might assign Mu’azu to represent him at functions or invite him to accompany him while calling on him to prepare for such roles.

 

Some of the dignitaries who graced the occasion, such as State Commissioners and Journalists, hailed Mu’azu’s conferment with the title, urging him to uphold journalistic excellence and promote peace and harmony in the state.

 

Mu’azu has been a practising journalist for over two decades and has also served the State in different capacities at the Gombe Media Corporation, Gombe State Government House and as Director Information at Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue.

 

He has also served as Information Officer NEWMAP Gombe State in addition to his advisory roles at Amnesty International and Mac Arthur Foundation among others.

 

This royal recognition on the States number one Journalist, highlighted Mu’azu’s commitment to public service and journalism.
