Some supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State have rejected the appointment of Mubarak Hamisu Usman as the Gombe State Director of the City Boy Movement.

It described the decision as ill-timed and capable of undermining party loyalty and internal cohesion.

The aggrieved party members, drawn from various wards, youth, and grassroots structures across the State, faulted the appointment on the grounds that Mubarak Hamisu Usman reportedly defected from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the APC on Friday and was appointed into the strategic position by Monday.

According to them, this development exposes a lack of coordination, internal consultation, and a clear reward system for committed APC members.

Speaking on behalf of the party faithfuls, Idris Muhammad Haske, a leader of the APC supporters in Gombe, said appointments of this nature discourage long-standing and hardworking party members, while indirectly promoting anti-party activities among loyal supporters who feel neglected.

Haske said, “This appointment sends a very wrong signal to committed APC members who have invested their time, energy, and resources in building the party. Rewarding a recent defector ahead of loyal members weakens morale and unity within the party”.

He explained further that the decision by the City Boy Movement to appoint a recent defector has been widely faulted by dedicated APC members across the state, stressing that such actions could erode trust and weaken grassroots mobilisation.

He therefore called on the National Leadership of the City Boy Movement to urgently review and correct the decision, warning that failure to do so may lead to a boycott of the movement’s activities by APC members in Gombe State.

“Correcting this mistake will serve as a strong encouragement to party faithfuls to remain steadfast and continue working tirelessly for the APC and for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he stated.

The APC supporters reaffirmed their loyalty to the party and their support for President Tinubu’s administration but insisted that fairness, recognition of loyalty, and respect for long-serving members must guide appointments within party-aligned movements operating in Gombe State.

End.
