The Independent National Electoral Commission has promised citizen-focused service delivery and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability.
The commission made the declaration on Monday at the commencement of a two-day Certified Technical Capacity Building Workshop for its SERVICOM Departmental Desk Officers in Enugu State in collaboration with SERVICOM Presidency Team.
The workshop, aimed at reviewing the third edition of INEC’s Integrated Service Charter and developing a Local Service Charter to further strengthen service standards across the Commission.
The workshop was declared opened by the Director of Administration, Mr Austin Orogbu, who represented the INEC National Commissioner, Prof. Sani Adams, and the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs Rose Anthony.
In his remarks, Orogbu emphasised the strategic importance of the training, noting that the Commission attaches great seriousness to improving service delivery.
“We brought you here to demonstrate the seriousness the Commission attaches to this exercise,” he said, while commending the SERVICOM unit for its recent recognition as the “most improved parastatal service unit.”
He described the award as evidence of INEC’s ongoing reforms and urged desk officers to be innovative in achieving meaningful outcomes from the workshop.
The Administrative Secretary of INEC in Enugu State was represented at the event by the Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, Mr Rex Achimie, who delivered a welcome address on behalf of the state office.
Achimie thanked the SERVICOM Presidency Team for its continued support and described the workshop as timely and strategic, given INEC’s constitutional mandate.
“As a commission entrusted with the critical responsibility of managing Nigeria’s electoral process, INEC recognises that credible elections are not driven by sound laws and technology alone, but also by efficient service delivery, responsiveness to stakeholders, and adherence to best administrative practices,” he said.
According to the organisers, the workshop is designed to align INEC’s Service Charter with its strategic objectives, incorporate stakeholder feedback, assess existing performance metrics, and identify gaps in service delivery. The expected outcomes include a clearer definition of services, improved institutional accountability, higher stakeholder satisfaction, and a more efficient service delivery framework.
The initiative, officials said, underscores INEC’s determination under the leadership of Prof. Joash Amupitan to strengthen internal processes and reinforce public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral system through excellence in service delivery.
