Determined to advance information and technology development, Cross River government is synergizing with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

This partnership was announced during a recent briefing by the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Cross River Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (CR-MEDA), Great Ogban, after a visit to NITDA where issues strengthening the collaboration took a front burner.

Ogban commended NITDA for its pivotal role in national technology development and highlighted CR-MEDA’s notable achievements in the sector.

According to him, these achievements include the launch of the Cross River Information, Communication, and Technology Hub (CRS-ICT), which has become a vital space for tech entrepreneurs, as well as the ongoing Civil Service Technology Empowerment for Capacity and High Performance (CIVTECH) program, designed to equip civil servants with essential ICT skills, among others.

Ogban maintained that the governor, Prince Bassey Otu, is poised to reviving the state as the premier Tech hub in the region, following the setbacks earlier experienced around the innovation centers in Tinapa.

He assured that the state government would not relent in its commitment to fully engage in the partnership which is aimed at boosting the lives of the citizenry.

Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, welcomed Ogban’s visit, admitting that the collaboration was relevant, apt and timely.

Kashifu used the opportunity created by the visit to outline NITDA’s ongoing initiatives aimed at making technology more accessible to the public.

He further reaffirmed NITDA’s commitment to collaborating with agencies like CR-MEDA, in order to foster information and technology development across the state.
